We are going to tax your investments more inside super than outside super and you can't withdraw it until you retire and by then we will ban withdrawals, yeah sure do you want to confiscate my house too ?

@johnwoodrow8769 There is a case for superannuation to reduce the burden on tax payers for paying people the old age pension. There is not much point in having super just to blow it on extravagance when you retire and then put your hand out for the old age pension. Any money that you accumulate outside of superannuation should be yours to spend how you want. Any super that you get from your employer could be limited to pension payments when you retire but any that you contribute should be yours to do what you like. Super should be to reduce your reliance on the old age pension not to splurge on extravagance and then get the pension. Self funded retirees are heroes as far as I am concerned because they don't get paid a pension, they pay their own way.

@johnwoodrow8769 Exactly I agree, a big problem is if you qualify for a pension card then you get lots of handouts so people have no incentive to earn more income from investing or accumulating wealth because they don't want to lose the pension card. If you scrap the pension card and increase the pension then people will behave in a rational fashion.
