  1. Gas companies have contracts with Government to charge the world price, if the wonderful Labor Government wants to help consumers then they can pay for it.

  6. 200 bucks don't spend it all at once because your electricity bill will go up by 1000 over the next 12 months regardless. Price caps are above what power stations are contracted to pay anyway so it won't have any affect on electricity prices, it's just political bullshit from Labor.

  7. They might say OK for 12 months but it's just kicking the can down the road until electricity bills will be much higher, you can't trust Labor for it to only be 12 months.

  8. @@Henry_F_Wagons We didn't pay for the gas infrastructure and workforce, the gas companies did, and Government signed contracts that the gas companies will charge the world price, oh yeah I never thought of that or much else either.

  11.  @primategaberocco  So tax payers pay for everything that private industry does, so why doesn't Government own every business in Australia oh that's right that would be Communism not to mention it would cost tax payers a fortune. Why don't you own shares in Australian companies oh that's right that would mean that you would risk losing your money.

  13.  @oldbloke204  A contract is a contract, if gas companies choose to offer discounts then that is up to them. Gas and coal power stations have contracted to pay below the capped price anyway but as I said a contract is a contract.

  14.  @oldbloke204  Western Australia is not all of Australia and gas companies negotiated a deal with the WA Government. Things are a lot more complicated than the Labor con artists try to make them out to be.

  15. How will a 12 month price cap on gas and coal lower the price of electricity when the power stations have contracted to pay less than the capped price anyway, coal power stations are closing down and not being maintained or replaced because business can't trust the Labor greenie Communists.
