  1. If we are going to spend a fortune to establish a nuclear industry in Australia for submarines, we may as well have nuclear power stations there as well so that South Australia doesn't have to keep bludging off Victorian coal power stations.

  2.  @peterslocomb152  When Australia decided on the American nuclear subs one of the reasons given was that Australia would not need a nuclear industry to maintain them but they would for the French design. However it looks like if they are built here then we will need a nuclear industry to build and maintain them.

Scomo wanted the submarines to be built in America so that Australia wouldn't have to spend a fortune of confiscated tax payer's money to establish and maintain a submarine nuclear industry here. Oh well look forward to more confiscation taxes which Albanese won't have to pay himself to pay for all of this, not to mention closing down our coal export industry resulting in more confiscation taxes which Albanese won't have to pay himself.
