  1. In Australia the Queensland State Government wacked up the royalties tax that coal mining companies had to pay which resulted in no one being interested in starting up new coal mines. The Government then threatened to cancel the existing coal mining licences of coal mining company BHP if they didn't buy more coal mining licences. BHP has yet to respond. New resources projects have ground to a halt in Australia since left wing Federal and State Labor Governments have come to power.
