You are right. The world would collapse and there would be hundreds of millions dying from the collapse of the energy grid and ability to get food to people. It would take months for the downed power grids to be repaired and restored. There is literally only one place in the world that has paid to prepare their power grid for a solar flare radiation and that's the province of Quebec in Canada because one hit them several decades ago and downed their power grid and cost their economy billions so it was cheaper to install it than risk it happening again and the loss of money.
