  1. Exactly that was nonsense, a red herring to make the movie more interesting than it was. The writing could have been much better and should have been given the cast they got for it.

  2. The problem is there is no plan or possible plan for such a thing. It would take 6 months minimum to restore basic power if help was provided from other countries. Most of the population will be dead by then from lack of food and water. It's pretty much the worst attack there could be.
