  1. The edge of the boat is high. It's hard enough to reach out of the water to grab far less lift a wet full sized toddler into the boat. Especially if she had to swim back to the boat that drifted away. Also remember this is a woman in show business she probably was dieting and already in a weakened state with low energy and strength.

  2.  @lizziehastings4792  That alone would do it. Also I don't think the people commenting have ever gone swimming in their life. Far less out in a body of water. It can be extremely draining and fast. Especially if you aren't in good shape, had something to eat earlier and have your strength and so on.
