  1. That is a bit of a strech. For all we know the child has a medical condition where they don't properly process food. Either a genetic issue, missing a huge amount of their intestines or so on. Many many medical conditions can prevent a baby from gaining weight. So it's criminal to jump to conclusions, this stuff does happen to infants. That's why you don't see many people with such conditions they almost all die as babies.

  2. They better check the child for any genetic disorders or other physical problems that would lead to her malnourishment before charging two people for murder and life in prison. They do exist.
