You people can't fathom he has sever mental issues? The system never handled this right, he should not be going to jail but a mental institution. Especially given he was a child himself. Usually someone with mental issues is diagnosed by adulthood at least. But a child not necessarily. In fact it could largely be the parents fault for not taking him to be seen and institutionalized or medicated.

It sounds more like he should be in a mental hospital not jail. I feel like this was handled wrong. Child rapists and killers don't even get sentences that long.

Who said he turned into a monster. People can have mental disorders. He was a child, it very well could have been diagnosed. This could very well have been the parents fault for ignoring signs and not taking him to a doctor to get proper medication or even institutionalized earlier. I don't think this was handled right.
