  5. Oh please this isn't even "mining" it's more like harvesting. It's picking up surface rocks. The environmental impact is extremely minimal. The biodiversity and biomass at such depths is minimal and insignificant. This is truly revolutionary and needed.

China's coast and many of the island nations near China's coast have their 100 km from coast waters overlapping into each other because of how close they are. China refuses to share these waters which makes the most sense since both countries have a right. That is the main issue to my understanding, and China refuses to be reasonable. There are other minor subjects to the issue but that is the main one.

The USA for example has had literal trillions go missing and unaccounted for, for decades now. Around 7-10 trillion missing since around 2000 for the USA. The pentagon started auditing when it was around 3 trillion missing and a plane magically crashed in the exact area of the whole building where the auditing was taking place on sept 11 2001.   14. I would say it is even too delicate. There is very little to destroy as far as biodiversity or biomass at that depth and at surface level. Just sucking up the surface rocks is a waste as no one will go over that site again. They should be harvesting rock not just surface level but down a few feet as it goes also to truly exploit every meter. Just think about it they are already there and going to the effort, how much more work could it be. Not only will this reduce the overall size and rate of surface harvested. It will bring in most likely a significantly larger harvest.

  15. This is good news for Asia and Africa since their garbage goes into the ocean and rivers. But this is irrelevant for the West, we have proper waste management and our plastic and other waste goes into landfills so this is completely irrelevant for us and takes away freedom of choice.

  23.  @RobGodMC  Not really, mineral content of the soil heavily affects the mineral content of the plant. It's not rocket science. Remember all the minerals on the planet are not evenly distributed. There are mineral veins. One area it could be high in magnesium another calcium. Secondly protein and vitamin content can be affected quite a bit by the mineral content of the soil. If it lacks essential minerals the content will be lower. Harsher environments will increase phyto compounds. It's a legitimate concern for it's nutrition.

  30. A little known fact most people don't understand is probiotics by and large still give all their benefits even if they've been pasturized and killed. All the chemicals they've made that give the biological effects are still there. The only difference is colonizing the gut which they largely never do anyways studies have shown and need to be constantly consumed anyways, so in reality it doesn't make a difference. So a squirt bottle of komucha concentrate to put in your bottled water is actually not a bad idea if someone worked out a good recipe.

  42. Daily sunscreen is the biggest propaganda lie in dermatology. The majority of sunscreen chemicals cause skin damage and skin cancer and the studies that show this never make headlines because it would make the industry look like fools for peddling it all along. They are the last thing you would want to put on your skin everyday. Save it only for days spent in the sun.

  49. Yup, you almost have to assume you'll kill them at some point. So always propagate backups. Or at least start trying to learn how to. Nothing is worse that finding a certain plant variety that you absolutely love and you kill and you can't even find it again because it's out of production.

  50. Succulents are overrated and most of them a complete nightmare to keep as houseplants. Outside if you live in the right place they can be braindead easy. What is silly is how all the trendy fad expensive houseplants are absurd hard to keep and hard to even flower if they can. People need to go back to basics. Things like african violets, streps, epicia and so on are brain dead easy, and far more beautiful than virtually every fad plant, cheap and basically flower almost all year without too much effort. Super easy to propagate too.
