  40. Who is Canada protected from? Saying Canada is protected by the USA is moronic. It needs no protection in the first place given it's geography. Russia is the only realistic threat and doesn't stand a chance at invading Canada. Even the USA the country that boarders it failed disastrously to annex Canada back in the day because of it's geography. Canada retaliated and burned down the white house. Also Canada is second only to the USA in number of guns per person, we are a heavily armed country. One report shows there are 7 million citizens owning 21 million guns. Also beyond that Canada is the peace keeping nation of the world making it one of the most liked countries in the world unlike the USA. Tell me what other nations military has gotten a nobel peace prize? Also Canada is part of the common wealth empire which it would receive protection from anyways and if the common wealth goes to war the whole EU does by extension. And you gotta be pretty ignorant to not know the massive contrabution Canada made during the two world wars. Canada also has around the 10th largest GDP in the world and one of the only 4-5 countries in the world that can exert food power as a tactic of war. A currently small military reflects nothing. We entered WW2 with an army of 4300 full time and 51000 reservists. We had 15 outdated ships in our navy and 19 modern aircraft in our airforce. By wars end, we had the worlds 3rd largest navy with 471 ships, 4th largest airforce with 86 squadrons and 1.1 million Canadians voluntarily enlisted and served. Thats was 10% of the population. If 10% of Canadas population enlisted today, we'd have the worlds largest military. Also important to note, most of the equipment Canada produced in WW2 was provided to allies or those numbers could have been much larger. Canada can also easily be energy independent with our own oil and nuclear material we can mine in our own country and have the ability to enrich and develop our own nuclear reactors which we already have and by extension nuclear weapons. Who do you think supplied the USA with their nuclear material used in the two bombs on Japan? Canada. Canada's ranking in oil reserves is also misleading. Considering that the Athabasca deposit has estimates of 1.7 - 3 trillion barrels alone, thats more then the rest of the worlds proven oil reserves combined. Canada also has one of the top 3 best trained special forces in the world. List goes on and on. Once again another American ignorant of their neighbors to the north.
