Jesus condemned the pharisees for arguing with him and thinking they knew more than Him. They were " religious" but lost, because they rejected Christ as the Messiah, the Saviour. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. Jesus shed his blood for us, and paid the penalty for our sun. All we need to do is confess our sin and believe on Christ for our salvation. We are saved by grace, through faith in Him. There is no other Saviour or pathway to heaven.
