In a corrupt culture, who you know is more important than what you know. By supporting the collaborators in Kadyrov's regime, you get ahead. It improves your chances if you're applying for a place at University, seeking a government job, tendering for a state contract, applying for an arts grant... etc. This is not a society, where most people follow, "due process".
Once you've supported the collaborators, there's no going back. They rest of Chechen society, now hates you. So, you then have to defend the trators, to preserve your own life. If they say, 'Go and serve Putin's cause, in Ukraine', you'll do it.

@inebium He thought there'd be a pay-off - the Donbas gas fields and the newly discovered, Crimean off shore, oil. He wasn't expecting so many nations to be footing the bill for the Ukrainian side of the action. It's not only NATO members either. Japan, Australia, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand... etc. Putin's economic, industrial, military, or human reserves, are no match for the combination backing Ukraine.
