  4.  @raymondporter2094  The selection process is not the reason why the Ghurkas are great infantry. This selection process however, is relatively new. It's partly a function of scaling down the size of the Ghurka contingent, because Britain now has to give them the same pay/benefits as other troops. Previously though, the selection process was much the same as for other regiments, yet the Ghurkas were still an elite and feared force. This was the case during WWII, the Malayan Emergency, the Falklands campaign... etc.
