Revolution ushers in the Soviet Union. 1989 - USSR is bankrupted by a decade of military farces in Afghanistan. The Union disolves and the current federation in born. Time's coming up for Putin (and my friend, Mr Solovyov).

  3.  @west_park7993        Yes, 2 fleets. After the Pacific was destroyed at Port Arthur, the Tsar sent Russia's Baltic Fleet, all the way around, to continue the fight. The Japanese sunk that one, as well. As for Andropov, he had plenty of time to end the Afghan fiasco, if he'd known so early on, that it was a futile cause. Vlad may be copying his mentor, too closely.
