Don't forget, nearly every member of today's PLA, was raised as an only child. Think about the implications of that. I'm not just referring to performance in combat, either. Social customs in China, require children to support their parents, during that latter's senior years. Thanks to the one child policy, a soldier may be supporting 2 parents and 4 grandparents. How will Chinese people feel about their only child/grandchild going to war?

"...the conversation seems scripted...". No. She actually said, "the Speeches seemed scripted and formal". Big difference. At a large convention, it's not practical for so many people (she mentioned multiple cameras and a control room... etc) to have a "conversation". Conversely, I would expect people to read out prepared speeches/reports and that they sound formal. That's not to say that I believe the recording is, or is not, genuine.

@tophan5146 "... a degenerat gambler...". The Chinese communities in the countries that I have lived in, do seem to have more of those, that the other ethnic/racial groups. Perhaps you've raised a valid point? If you're a Wumau from the 50 cent army, don't say any more on the subject. Instead of earning social credit points, you might end up on the list of organ donors.
