  1. Six months if occupation, yet the Russians never got around to restoring the electricity supply. Is it any wonder, that so many republics took their chance to leave the Soviet Union, in 1990? Is it surprising that the Warsaw Pact disappeared, just as quickly. If Russians had treated other people fairly, instead of exploiting them, they might not have left. Instead, they've been queueing up to join NATO. Russia created its own problems.
