@avatv5 Yes. It shows what happens when a thriving economy, becomes part of China.

Reminds me of a quote from Winston Churchill. He quipped that under socialism, everyone will eventually have, "...an equal share of the misery. "

I remeber the 1970's & 80's, protests against the military junta in Argentina, were led by mothers and grandmothers (of those who had gone "missing"). It's a part of most societies that riot police are very reluctant to touch. This is also the case in East Asian culture, especially with the elderly. So, yes! Others should have supported the youth. In fact, old ladies should have led the way.

@johntang4108 Yes! The, "misery", of being able to change leaders if we don't like of their work. Meanwhile, others are stuck with the same corrupt dictators, even when their economy is plummeting. It must be hard to cope with such setbacks, when you've been raised as an only child.

Yup! It's great example of why people in Taiwan, don't want reunification.

Same thing happened with the Easter Bloc (Warsaw Pact), nations and the USSR. The latter, plundered the economies of its, "allies", to fund an extravagant space programme, nuclear arsenal, blue water naval fleet... etc. On its own, pathetic Soviet GDP could never support such excesses. Russians don't mention this. They've never apologised for it or offered a cent in compensation.

@Cryosxify Interesting that you mention the combination of communism and democracy. There've been different applications of socialist policies, where voters, are free to choose: Post-war Britain's welfare state, the 20th Century Israeli kibbutzim, Scandinavian socialism... etc. These cases & others, are examined in the final episode, of a documentary series, here on YouTube. It's episode 3, titled: "Commanding Heights: The New Rules if the Game". It's quite detailed for a TV doco. Each episode is nearly 2 hours long. Let me know what you think?

@johntang4108 Awww! Poor little Wumao, is upset that he/she is stuck with a corrupt dictatorship, while others get to choose and change their leaders. It must be so hard to cope with setbacks, when you've been raised as an only child.

@johntang4108 Awww! Poor little pink is upset. He/she is stuck with a corrupt, failing dictatorship, while others get to choose and change their leaders. It must so hard to cope with setbacks, when you've been raised as an only child.
