@marcusr3795 @marcusr3795 True. However, in the age of dual income families, many kids in China have been raised by 4 grandparents. Even if not told they're special, the subconscious message is there. They're the focus of attention, for upto 6 adults.
Conversely, when they join the workforce and mortgage belt, they become, "...just another brick in the wall". Possibly, why some are choosing, not to take that step.
Your statement, re pension plan, status... etc., raises an interesting issue. How would Chinese parents/grandparents react, if the CCP wanted to send their only son, to serve in a war?
