How will senior Chinese feel about their only child/grandchild, being sent to war? In China, children are expected to support their parents/grandparents, during the latters' retirement years.

Yes, you're right. Unfortunately: 1. Conscription is a great way to hide unemployment figures. 2. War, also offers many more external issues, on which a government can blame, internal hardships. 3. In a state of war, it's easier for an otherwise unpopular government, to rally support.

IT'S HARDER THAN B4 FOR CHINA: 1. Taiwan has allies. Japan stood alone. 2. Qing forces personnel comprised normal people. Today's Chinese military, is nearly exclusively, people who were raised as an only child. 3. Parents/grandparents will not like their only child (& retirement assistance) being sent to war. 4. One rocket into the side of the Three Gorges Dam and it's, "Game Over". Taiwan, claims it has the range.

@nathanc6516 They can easily convince the Chinese people, of that. Chinese people still believe that the Hainan Island Incident, was sparked by an illegal espionage mission over Chinese territory. They fully believe that their invasion of Tibet was necessary to save Tibetans from a brutally oppressive, fudalistic regime. Most under 40, are ignorant of the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre and flat out, don't believe me when I tell them that China tried to invade Vietnam in 1979 and failed. Presently, most of the fully accept Russian justification for the invasion of Ukraine: i.e., Bio-weapons lab, NATO "encroachment", and de- nazification.
