  3. "It DID take the Germans 4 months to reach Kiev..." The Germans were fighting against the forces of the whole Soviet Union, not just Ukraine. In fact, they were also fighting against the British Empire, and the remaining forces of free French, Free Poles, Free Czechs... etc.
