A fleet of surface vessels, currently keeps the Red Sea route open. So far, none have been sunk. Some have been damaged and some have managed to sink/destroy Houthi vessels. To my knowledge, submarines have not inflicted any damage, on Houthi forces. It's all about context, theatre of war, and composition of your opponent. Conversely, an Iranian minister specifically declare that a US carrier was an easy target for the Iranian navy's fleet of 300 speed boats, armed with rocket launchers. We shall have to wait and see.

@dariolopez5223 War? You simply stated "...naval battle beyond subs is redundant...". Yet there is, taking place at the entrance to the Red Sea. Imagine if nations thought like you, and didn't have those vessels? But as I said, we should wait and see. Iran has claimed that a swarm of speed boats will take out a US carrier. Unlike the Ivanovets though, US carriers have escorts. So, lets see.

@vadymvv Exactly as I said, It's all about context, theatre of war, "...and composition of your opponent". @CtheBernwickle has implied that naval surface vessels are redundant. Yet there, in the Middle East, they are being successfully employed, for an important task. How would you propose we achieve the same thing, without such vessels?
