  1. “Water Wars”, are already a reality. Many of the major river systems in South East Asia (e.g. the Irrawaddy, the Mekong and the Salween) originate in the Himalayas. China has built more than 60 dams, to control this flow. When countries like Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, or Cambodia, don't act according to China's wishes, their farmers may be treated to droughts or floods, accordingly.

  3.  John Smith  Bottom line: the people of Hong Kong have experienced both British and Chinese rule. They prefer the former. Despite all that you may say, this fact alone really hurts you. You expect us not to notice the selective nature of your retelling of history. You assume us to be fools. Go away and learn about the many bad things that China has done ( and continues to do).

  4.  John Smith  Bottom line: they prefer British rule. They have had good experience of both systems. As such, they are the only people on the world, qualified the make that judgement. That's really what's annoying you, isn't it. Despite all the history lessons that you've lovingly typed out, (all be it, a highly selective summary), the people of Hong Kong, still prefer life under British rule. The reasons for their preference, are to be found in the omitted sections of your narrative.

  5.  @ddandymann  China and Vietnam having good relations... funny joke.. 🤣. They have faught wars against each other. China invaded Vietnam in 1979 and failed miserably. The Vietnamese though, are still pissed off about an incident in the 80's when the Chinese machine gunned 60 Viets on the Spratley. As for for Nigeria - being friends with a corrupt dictatorship doesn't mean that the Nigerian people love you. With countries where people get to choose their government, China finds it harder to form alliances. So come back and join this discussion, after you've finished primary school.

  6. Portugal has consulted with the rest of the world, on this issue, by presenting its case to the United Nations. China did not do this, for its territorial claims in the South China Sea. It simply built artificial islands in the region, much to the annoyance of the countries that currently border that sea. Portugal is not obstructing, or objecting to, free navigation of its claim, by other countries. Conversely, China demands exclusive navigation rights, within its, nine dash claim. You have made a spurious correlation. Why? Is because you were truly, ignorant of these differences, or were you deliberately trying to mislead people? That was not a rhetorical question. I actually want to know, what was your intention?
