Resident of Rotterdam here - I hate how the city looks like today. It tries to copy an American city, but fails miserably at doing so because it also still has a lot of 1950s ugly, depressing appartment blocs close to it. If you go to the Binnenrotte - Hoogstraat area, you will see what I mean. I used to go to the gym next to where the Sint-Laurenskerk lies, one of the only pre-war buildings that was preserved after 1940, and it lies around swaths of modernist buildings. I frequently saw tourists photograph the church and church only and not the other buildings around it. Then there's certain area's that suffer due to a lot of wind thanks to the high and boxy buildings present everywhere catching said wind and pushing it to the ground, to the point I need to wear a scarf in the winter because it just being too much to be pleasnt. It gets even worse when you discover what the city before 1940 looks like. Compare the area's of the Steigersgracht, Hoogstraat, Delftsevaart and Blaak then and now and you will just want to cry how awful it all is today compared to the past. Lastly, one of the few decent places, the area around the Witte Huis and Spanjaardsbrug, is far more popular than any other area by locals and tourists alike. It angers and baffles me why the city council continues to pretend the modernist "identity" Rotterdam has is somehow a good thing, when Rotterdam is a clear example of a failed experiment that would vastly improve if it underwent a rebuilding in the style of Dresden.
Lastly, I've been to multiple other cities in the country, from Schiedam to Middelburg. All were vastly more pleasant to walk around than Rotterdam. Middelburg, despite having rather simple 1940s houses in the hit area's, felt MUCH more pleasant to be in than Rotterdam, and I'll certainly consider returning in the future because of it. Good architecture and city planning matters, people!

+Gott The fact that you display multiple fallacies and play the "EVERYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH ME ARE FASCISTS AND NAZI'S WAAAAH" card, already shows you've lost at this point.
Also, just to remind you:
-The OVERWHELMING AMOUNT of refugees coming here are either healthy men, or from literally anywhere BUT Syria. From Bangladesh to Bosnia to Guinee and from Albania to Afghanistan, these people are all here to profit from our welfare system, as shown in places like Sweden
-Defending Islam, a religion that's racist, sexist, mysoginist and overall intolerant actually makes YOU the intolerant one
-And lastly, calling the USA the "REAL NATION THAT SUCKS!!!111ONE" despite the fact that they helped your pathetic arses after WWII from the Communists, shows what a lazy and disgusting regressive Antifa leftard you really are
Read up on what people like Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Paul Joseph Watson and Maajid Nawaz say and stop sucking the dick of those who think Cultural Marxism is a good thing, you disgrace to Europe.

@1080ike So, in short: an exaggeration followed by another exaggeration after a stable and effective way of building was brutally disrupted, be it in cities or suburban area's.
What's even more bizarre is that with small changes like adding pedestrian area's to walk on, cycling paths or actual public transport stations and rail lines via train, tram or bus would MASSIVELY improve said area's and decrease problems like for example high car use, obesity and so on.
I know Europe and North America are radically different, as things in North America are more based on how political they are rather than just plain common sense like in Europe (left, right and centre parties all acknowledge that the American way of building... anything by now is redundant). As a result, countries like France and Germany are revamping their cities and neighbourhoods by demolishing brutalist style architecture and rebuilding beauty or even build wholly new neighbourhoods in trafitional, dense and pedestrian friendly styles! I can recommend the place Le Plessis-Robinson for good examples of that, and there's also a channel who made a good video on it. Cheers!

@SucculentSooner "I think that if you take the steps to assimilate into a location by the legal process, you become a member of that region. And by that definition, you can be European regardless of what race you are."
Ridiculous and hilariously out-of-touch with reality. Ethnicity is the key factor to one's being, no matter the place. There is no such thing as "assimilation", nor will that ever be a reality, since ethnicity defines one's biological behaviour, IQ and much more that goes further than merely skin tone. An African isn't a European because he has a document that says "European" on it or speaks a European language - he is still an African by nature, even if he lives in Europe.
"Not to mention the minority offspring born and raised in European countries making them, in effect, European."
It's called remigration. This completely bonkers idea that we're somehow forced to take them in, house them and "educate" them to begin with, is what leads to these false analogies. Again - an African is not European just because he has a document that says so, he is still an African.
"I also never mentioned anything about Europe et al. "needing" diversity.."
But you heavily imply it in your second and mildly in your first reply. Those who are civic nationalists are usually one step away from becoming liberals or further anyway.
"We live in a smaller world than we did 40, 60, 100 years ago."
Yeah. And?
"Relocation, in terms of transport & technology is easier than ever, the ethnic construction of individual countries are going to change gradually because of it."
Again, remigration. We aren't the daycare of the Third World, we are not their babysitters. Europe is for the Europeans, that will not change just because civic nationalists or liberals like you think that anyone who sets foot on our soil from another contintent can magically "become European" because he speaks Spanish or has a German ID card. You are European by blood, nothing else.

@Game_Hero Some believe that Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Jügendstil are "modern" styles. Some styles even explicitly label itself as 'modernist' like Catalan modernism, yet when people look at them all they aren't exactly modernist as they lend some elements from traditionalism unlike the brutal, soul crushing post-WWII styles, which in itself are extreme inventions from the USSR and the U.S. What was new before WWII wasn't bad for the large part after +100 years, what was new after WWII still is just utter shit for the large part after as early as 75 years, this isn't new or shocking and certainly no "reactionary dogmatic thinking" like you originally implied.
And yes, a lot of people advocate for this mindset. Can you honestly blame them for living under such insolence for the last, what, 80 years? I wouldn't blame them in the slightest. Look at before/after video's and photo's of cities like Berlin, Cologne or Rotterdam and you'll understand why.

Interesting video, though I'm not a full-on admirer of styles like this, it is ABSOLUTELY an improvement compared to the monstrosities that were built in the 70s and 80s in the Netherlands.
If you want more suggestions for future places to visit, I can recommend two that I've been to myself.
- Brandevoort, Helmond. Basicly built as a 'fortress city', it looks and feels very traditional despite the place being only built quite recently.
- Vathorst, Amersfoort. This place is more contemporary and modern, but has some connections with the past also. The main reason to visit the place is because of the 'Foortse Towers', built by German architect Hans Kollhoff, that look very pleasant despite being skyscrapers.
There's also Westergouwe in Gouda and then there's projects in other countries like Heulebrug in Knokke-Heist (Flemish part of Belgium), Le Plessis Robinson (Paris, France) and of course Poundbury and Riverside in London, but the other ones are less known and definitely worth the visit. Oh, and Dresden and Frankfurt, but I assume you already know of them since you're German. Cheers!

This video is, once again, deceitful. You can get immediate help in the U.S. if you got the money . Problem is, an overwhelming amount of Americans do not have 20.000 at the ready.
Whilst health care in Canada has its problems, that's true, they don't even come close to the massive, teething ones American health care system has. Wanna get a regular check-up but you don't have insurance? Alright that's a few thousands bucks for you, bucko. Will you be paying in cash, credit card or with your kidneys?
You don't have to be "left" or "right" to demand good health care, so stop with the false left-right dichotomy, Prager "We Want To Replace" U.

Fantastic video! Though if I may be able to bring in some constructive criticism - slow down a bit with the transitions. I feel like currently the transitions are a bit too fast, when in reality I want the time to really let the images sink in and analyze them. Delaying them with a second or two would make a great difference already.
As for the rest of the video - there are many more similar firebombings that happened in Germany, I found out. Not just in what is today considered Germany, but also in places now in Poland like Szczecin (Stettin), Gdansk (Danzig) and Świnoujście (Swinemünde). I'll save you the horrible details of the many that brutally died in what I'd call deliberate firestorms, but the cities itself fared little better. Luckily they have been rebuilt for the most part, but these bombings seem to have been long forgotten. And also, the DDR buildings can go for all I care. Not just because having nostalgia for a regime as brutal as the DDR is just... cringe, but especially because the houses itself look in a bad shape and you could achieve a similar but much nicer result with the designs you showed.
I am very glad this video is made, thank you The Aesthetic City! Here's hoping you'll make one on Gdansk next in the future, that city has an interesting history of its own regarding reconstruction. Cheers!

@Chris689200 And yet another French cope.
Remember the Roman Empire? We laid claim to your land first - by your own logic, the entirety of France should be under our jurisdiction since the SPQR was born in modern-day Italy. Also, congrats - you managed to create some French vassal states for... a few years? Which haven't at all erased the thousands of years of distinct ethnic identities which would later form the Kingdom of Italy and conquer """""French""""" territory via Irredentism?
Don't forget, little chauvinists, that you LARP as us because you want to be us, but all you are is thieves that rob land of other nations and force them to act "French" (whatever that means). But you're losing the battle, and with that it'll only be a matter of time before Corsica, Nice and Savoy become Italian again, just like how "French" Flanders will become Flemish, Alsace will become German and Occitan and "French" Basque will become independent or Spanish.
P.S.: ask the FLNC and the father of Napoleone (who was Italian, cry about it) if they still agree that "no one" wants it. If you dare. 😉

I'm glad you actually mentioned if Arthur could exist today. The short answer is no. The longer answer, ironically, also is no. Because of social media, the possibility to make everything political has turned what once were interesting or even valuable life lessons about popular or obscure topics like you mentioned into a shit flinging storm of "THIS SHOW AND ITS MESSAGE IS THE WORST, ATTACK IT UNTIL IT STOPS!". I'm not even American but even _I can see that. It has become neigh impossible for TV shows to address important topics anymore, which sadly has led to a largely dumbing down of children TV shows. Adult shows of course are a different matter, but in a way I do miss that powerful layer that shows like Ed, Edd 'n Eddy, Hey Arnold and this show once had. There's many more shows from the 90s/early 2000s era of Nickelodeon, Jetix and Cartoon Network that also qualify for this, but you get my point.
Social media has become a curse for Arthur, which led to its cancellation. Making an episode on same-sex marriage or police brutality is not the same as making one today, because you'll be guaranteed to be caught up in a gigantic culture war nowadays. Cheers.

"Wait, you think that loads of people will just start following your dead pagan religion? LMAO!"
I don't just think it, I know it. It takes one search to see the future projections of every religion from now to 2050, and yours is really not looking good right now lol
"It is true that Christianity is declining (along with religion in general because of the rise of hedonism), but a resurgence could easily happen once the tough times being created today create strong men"
Strong men don't grovel to Rabbi Yeschua Ben Josef on a stick who hangs out with prostitues and tells people to "look the other cheek". They worship the Gods of old.
"And once more, you peddle Jewish lies about the identity of Jesus Christ, and I grow tired of it."
What are you gonna do? Lick my feet like the Pope does?
"I'll leave you to simp for Minerva, a goddess whose only relevance at this point is in fictional media lmao."
My examples:
Caesar, Augustus, Nero, Aurelian, Diocletian and the Gods of old they worshipped.
Your examples:
The Pope who loves those pristine African toes and Bishops endorsing child r4p3 who follow Rabbi Yeschua and Yahweh
lol
