If you invest billion directly into the health service that billion is used there .spend billion in the private sector at least 20% is going Into paying for their profits straight away.hence the government can claim more is being spent when in effect a large slab is being squirreled away into private profit.private providers cherry pick the health care they give and leave the complicated stuff for the nhs.using the private sector in the way streeting suggests is only viable if time limited and action to provide in-house instead must happen as a matter of priority.the private sector(as I understand it)do not by and large train up the doctors and nurses but instead steal those away from the nhs and provide them back at highly inflated prices.

If i had been in charge of goverment i would have made the nhs a tax free or tax low zone.what that means is that if you are employed by the nhs(on their payroll) you would receive a special tax code that means you pay lower tax for your nhs work.therefore doctors on the payroll would effectively pay less tax,but for their sub con work at the normal rates.this would mean it would help retention and recruitment because a nurse working for an agency would be at a financial disadvantage.the training of doctors and nurses would be paid throigh the public purse but anyone leaving within a certain time frame would have to pay it back on a pro rata basis.

  8. ​ @johnwright9372 many health systems around the world have problems but we also have a problem that the tories (and tory tribute acts)deliberately undermine the nhs in a successful attempt to break it so they can change it to insurance based system that only the rich can afford.like a spoilt child who smashes his toy and then demands a new one.

If we go along the healthcare insurance route we will end up with the worse possible version of the system because that's what the powers to be believe is all the plebs deserve.the system you describe in france(not sure it's necessarily typical of that system)is what we had in this country before the tories and Blair deliberately destroyed it with a combination of massive under investment and incompetence.the system does not need further privatising but rather proper investment at all levels and run by people who want it to succeed rather than destroy.

However that would only true if they were in a position to decide everything for themselves.the last government could have forced food ,manufacturer's to change the contents of foods to a more healthy foodstuff.lnstead they refused to do so and instead put profit before heathly lifestyles. The manufacturer's prefer to produce cheap addictive and bad for your health foods rather than a healthy just as affordable alternative.the last tory health minister was married to the boss of a sugar company.definetely no conflicts of interest there.
