  1. It's silly to link NATO membership to EU membership. Did Canada, Turkey or Norway join the EU before NATO? Nope. Russia is too big for the EU to absorb any road and it can no more meet the EU's accession requirements than Turkey has been able to.

  3. I don't believe Putin for a single second when he claims that, BUT it is a legit military tactic when used correctly. Churchill sent tens of thousands of Allied troops to fight in Italy to distract the Nazi's from the real invasion in France. And the Italy campaign saw some of the hardest fighting and biggest losses of the war.
