Northern Ireland is part of the UK, and therefore everyone is British, but they're also entitled to the Irish citizenship of Britain's neighbour the Republic of Ireland. Many do take Irish citizenship because if nothing else it makes it easier to get into the EU.

  3. No, there's nothing to stop it. That's why the EU has no objections to Ireland and Northern Ireland uniting in the unlikely event both would want it.

  4. There are no differences at all? Like, nothing comparable to the differences between English in the UK and US? We do have some obviously. It's why we joke that we're two nations separated by a common language.
