@Regis1995 the English Parliament asked the Kings daughter and her Dutch husband to remove her father. It had nothing to do with the Dutch state.

@TheMarineGamerIGGHQ there's a reason why the US Congress has the Magna Carta hanging alongside the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence. The whole US system is based on the UK system. From the Senate not being able to vote on money bills, to the way impeachment works, to them having the same committees. Plus parts of the US Constitution copy UK law word for word. The US Bill of Rights is based on the English Bill of Rights. Both countries have trial by jury. Most European countries do not. The US Supreme Court still cites English case law from before independence in present day cases. I'd love you to cite examples of the US Supreme Court using France courts and laws in its judgements.

@UUUU-dn9wz you need to learn the history of WW2. Hitler couldn't invade the UK because he couldn't get control of the air. Before the EU could send its navy to try to invade the UK it first would need to defeat the RAF and USAF forces in the UK. How would it do that?
3
So you want the UK to invade the UK? Cos the UK is part of Canzuk and you want Canzuk to invade the UK.
3
@lelouchvibritannia7809 William the Bastard didn't conquer the UK cos it didn't exist then. No one has ever invaded the UK.
3
@gavinhillick no, no there wouldn't. The UK + US would have air superiority very quickly cos the Yanks could send over asserts to USAF and RAF bases instead of relying just on carriers.

Stalemate. Neither side has the navel strength to take the fight to the other

@Regis1995 yes, UK culture is more similar to the US than to Europe. No-one in the UK really sees the other parts of the Anglosphere as foreign, but we do seethe EU as foreign. It's why we couldn't live with rule from Brussels. And don't confuse our leaders with the people. The public never supported political union with the EU. Never. When Churchill coined the praise special relationship, he was talking about the entire Anglosphere, and about how we all share a single line of history going back to Runnymede.

@ericnoonan616 Really, the US won every war? So when the UK invaded Washington DC in 1814 and burnt the White House, that was a US victory? The Bay of pigs disaster was a US victory? Vietnam was a US victory?

The IRA is all but gone
1
The US obviously. Through NATO and the Five Eyes both countries are very close allies.
1
The heart of the EU is easier to defend than the outer edges. It's why the Allies invaded Scilly, Italy and Normandy, not Denmark in WW2.
1
Germany has no military weight. Most of its airforce can't even fly.
1
@vincentboot123456789 it's a common thing to say the name of the capital city in place of the country. "Will London get a deal done with Brussels in time?" For eg. "Can Washington really justify an attack on Iran?"
1
@cw19280 there are projections from the UN that say in 50 years the UK population and economy will both be bigger than Germany's. Nothing is ever certain but it is good for thought
1
Even superpowers have limits. The British Empire was a bigger superpower but never took Paris or Madrid either. Force projection across an ocean is extremely difficult
1
The Russians took a Japanese island in WW2 and kept while the fighting stopped.

@brucejedilee5290 the Real IRA number what, in the low hundreds? It's mostly made up of old men in their 70s who can't let go of the Troubles and a few impressionable youths who don't know any better.

@FaithfulOfBrigantia Russia's economy may be small but its military is sizable. And because wages are lower Russia gets more bang for the same amount of money than the EU does. It's currently the case that when Russia sends warplanes towards Sweden, it's the UK who usually detects them first and has to send fighters to scare them off. The EU isn't very capable in the air. Also factor in that the EU forces are spread out far and wide. It would only take a small Russian force to capture the Baltic States and dig in to stop an EU counter attack.
1
Nah, the UK would side with the US, 100%. All Five Eyes countries would be united. And remember: lost equipment can be rebuilt but lost territory can't just be replaced. It would be a US victory.
1
No, the US funded terrorists in Northern Ireland to defeat democracy.
1
US Navy isn't large enough to blockade Ireland for more than a few months. They'd have 1/3 of the US Navy in Irish waters fighting the EU navy, 1/3 in the US undergoing maintenance and 1/3 constantly traveling between the US and Ireland
1
The US & UK vs the EU would be very interesting. It's basically a question of can the Allies still do a D-Day?
1
If the UK entered the war, Gib would be lost in a day. Spain would invade before the UK and US could reinforce it.
1
Attacking Scotland would bring the UK into the war and greatly strengthen the EU forces. Bad move.
