I think it's worth pointing out that there's no such thing as "the Royal Army". The English Bill of Rights forbids one, and Parliament has to give permission annually for even the government to maintain one. Also, in this scenario the Isle of Man IS part of the UK. Under the deal that makes the Isle of Man a crown colony, the UK government is permitted to conscript the men and women living there during war time. Basically, it's more a part of the UK than even the Falklands is.

Let Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland join on our side and you have a deal.

It would be interesting to see how much better the UK would with the forces it had during the Cold War. We had to take defence much more seriously cos of the Soviet threat and spent almost 4% of GDP on defence at that time.

Oh dear, another anti-islam post. Any excuse, huh

The situations are different. The biggest losses in the Battle of Britain wasn't planes, it was pilots. If an RAF pilot was shot down he landed on British soil and jumped into another plane and carried on. Shot down Germans were captured. And that's why the Nazis list 5 pilots for every 1 lost British pilot. Another difference is RAF bombers could reach Germany itself and do massive economic damage. Reaching the USA would be impossible.

The UK doesn't have as many nukes as you think. Enough to destroy a dozen of the biggest US cities but otherwise it'd be fine. But there is one big problem with actually doing that. The Royal Navy's 4 Trident submarines only carry around half the UK's nukes at any one time. Do you know where the other half are stored and maintained? A nuclear facility in the state of Georgia. Yeah. I don't think the Americans would be in a hurry to return them. :P

Where do you get your history from? When the Union of the Crown's happened under James I & VI most people in England saw it as a Scottish takeover. It isn't Far from the truth is it?

I think you're being too optimistic. I'd love for you to be right, but I have no faith in government to get defence spending where it needs to be

They would never go to war with each other because of two reasons: the voters wouldn't like it and nukes would give both countries a bad day.
