If the Titanic had not had reversed the engines then the flow over the rudder would have been better, & they may have missed the iceberg. But we are all wise after the event. Murdoch should never have been portrayed that way. He was a real person like you say. There was nothing 100% to say he did it. Ismay was a bit of a coward, after quite a few rich people could not get on & so many steerage lost their lives. He should have got them released from locked doors down below. But that's just my opinion.
