It isn't, however it is responsible for allowing the costs to be so high its not affordable

@golfbulldog because the government run it you fool and set regulation
1
@golfbulldog do you think 6k is appropriate to learn to drive a lorry?
1
@catearth8864 yes the government runs the test and regulations and allows it to rise, to the point its at 6k to get a 30k job out of it and as such becomes unachievable to most low skilled workers who would happily do the job, leading to shortages across the economy affecting us all, however on gov been overreaching and tyrannical i agree
1
@golfbulldog its a low skilled low paid job, students paying 9k for anything other than a stem subject are fools!!! and not applicable in this subject!! 6k for a 30k job is an investment! but far better ones if you had 6k than a hgv license, for 6k you could set yourself up in many more profitable things, its a job that the economy needs a vital one and the training costs are ridiculous!!
1
@golfbulldog i never said government needs to pay 🙄 they set the regulations and license the training providers, and as such allowing the training to clime to 6k is disgusting, politically we are on the same side, im against excessive costs for workers to simply get skilled for jobs
1
@catearth8864 you not getting it, the government is in charge of licensing its an important part of the economy and low paid, so why are they allowing private companies to make profits from driving regulations at the cost to the economy and people's employment chances? And yes 6k is way too expensive and if you had 6k spare to invest in yourself it wouldn't be for a truck licence as 6k is enough to start many way more profitable employment opportunities, the price has to be regulated when its affecting the economy for all and has no reason to be that expensive 3 quarters of the cost is pure profit
1
@catearth8864 i did explain that when i told you three quarters of the costs are profit, and yes i believe in profit🙄 however not when the license is a government mandated accreditation and should therefore be affordable to the many as they add to the economic performance of many sectors that rely on trucks
1
@catearth8864 yes my opinion is we need more regulation around fair pricing in accreditation, and uk problems with lack of drivers is from our membership of the eu that allowed haulage companies to employ cheap labour
1
@catearth8864 because some is bad! not all is! this isn't a zero sum game!
