  1. OMG, I have so much to say about this.... You put your finger on a hot button here, one that those who grew up in this country - and never left it - are rarely aware of: the toxic side of American "positivity" culture. There are toxic elements in every culture, obviously, but I never experienced the effects of unquestioned (fake) positivity until I moved to this country over 40 years ago. It has actually become more damaging over time, and social media, where real emotions are even more masked or even faked in a masterful manner, have let this phenomenon grow exponentially. I have a feeling that you and your brother-in-law can work through this. It takes time and the insight that BOTH of you brought this on - with the mindset that was available to you at the time. You have learnt valuable lessons, you have forgiven him (and yourself), maybe he has too..... I wish you both ALL THE BEST. My heart hurts for you both a little 🙂❤💕
