No single word about the City of London being the main disruptor of Great Britain, leaving the whole country at the financial mercy to their private interests?? 🤔

Please keep Trump to your USA. The rest of the world doesn't wanna be touched or fixed by Trump, really!

I loved listening to Dr. David Starkey in this interview, but I'm irritated for what he stands economically 🤔 he seems to find good what Thatcher did and Milei is doing (ignoring the bad consequences at least of Milei?) -- although he is very right on the state not being anything like lean, efficient and effective. And the parliament should have most influence on fiscal and monetary politics. A "self-cosuming" state is good for no one in the private sector. I wish he would incorporate Keynesian Ideas. It is important to create sustainable structures, for sure, but not a little state as possible. State spendings have to be responsibly and cost-efficient and complementary to the needs and well-doing if the private sector. I also agree, that Starmer and Reeves will only worsen GB's misery, but for clinging further on neoliberal ideas and majorly for lacking to transform government structures to a lean one without loosing the states major functions

I disagree with Dr. Starkey that the state is acting as an over-protective parent, specifically in your country. Does he wants to get back to early 20th century where failing could mean starvation, real poverty and even death? You can only get up and take care of yourselves if you have the opportunities and some safety net!

Wow, Rory Stewart is eloquently talking about stepping back and seeing the bigger picture, but still the only thing he can imagine for the NHS is further austerity and hard priorization? Please, Rorry, consider progressive, heterodox ecomics models like Modern Monetary Theory. The NHS doesn't need "stopping" more tasks or AI. They need better funding, better conditions for all the people workin in its service to help UK citizens!! There is enough money! And no, a NHS or a hospital doesn't need to be profitable!

But hey, it does also work with mostly unlimited work contracts as well, as in Germany (by far not for all jobs). It doesnt need to be the US hire&fire philosophy. But surely, there must be more economic freedom and less pointless burocracy, prone to curruption

The funny thing is that technically the UK can't and likely won't give bankrupt, at least in its own currency
2
@abersnat only if they desperately to wish so and stick to their dumb neoclassical rules. Like in the US, the UK can always create new £ to pay all their bills - if useful or not
2
@maugustyniak indeed, but still, did it get the proper attention as a great danger to the UK economy?

No matter what Trump is promissing to some of the US people, he is so far away from having the personality, integrity, dilpomacy, intelligence and depth of tought to be e president! (Ok, most presdients dont meet many of those criteria but only few are as far away) And he is a ruthless liar and grown-old kid, only serving himself. I would not employ him for anything!

Sorry, but Bill Ackman is still quite missled and blind for all aspects if Trump's 2nd presidency. Trump is just a loud kid who thinks he cann solve all the big world problems within a day each. He is no match for someone like Putin (who must not succeed!) or Xi Jinping. And European leaders will also be very carefully handling him to prevent him doing too much damage

Wait, she doesn't believe in FIAT system money as "sound" money, but she stands for Bitcoin?? Then she did not properly understand both. Currency sovereignty can be great, but ist still pote tally problematic for a small African money, whose currency will not be much accepted abroad.

Yeah, but right and Trump would be evil then, ofc

@AmericanAdvancement ok here many things are mixed up including an u fortunately wide-spread basic anti-government-in-general perspective. It's true that many government extended to much since they are form and lead (at the top) by the same greedy and unsocial people that lead big companies. But please don't forget that government and public services per se, in theory are good and very essential for the private sector, regular peoples and companies alike, if it would be applied wisely. This doesn't happen anyway, at least not with any good sense to support the people, and with desperately wrong economic models - the same across the western world. And this also leads to "vamping" on global South nations
