On the weather point, I personally prefer the cold weather and actually one of my complaints is that I find the weather too hot throughout most of the year lol. One of the reasons I'm happy to be moving further North for first home is on average its 3 degrees colder. On the holiday point, for most full time workers, they will be entitled to more than 21 days. The catch is that you have no absolute right to choosing those days off, and often 8 of those days in England & Wales, will be Bank Holidays where your employer chooses those days for you. Bank Holidays in England & Wales are not considered statuary, so you can be asked to work those days as well in most circumstances. Most full time workers are entitled to 5.6 weeks, which means 28 days per year, and that is **statuary paid holiday**. (btw to calculate your statuary time off times the number of days you typically work by 5.6. So if you work 5 days it would be 28. Cheers!)

This is very frustrating having to re-write a comment, because YouTube or whatever decides to gaslight me and remove stuff. Either that or I am losing the plot. In any case I wanted to provide to provide a correction to the point made in 13:46. If you are working Minimum Wage you would only make £300 a week in a situation where you are working 26 hours. Since the MW for 21+ year olds is £11.44 a 40 hour week would yield £457.60 or over 52 weeks (48 worked, 4 statuary paid), that's £23,795.20 a year. Taking into account taxation & NI etc your take home would be £20,653.94 a year or £397.19 a week. I also wrote about my home buying experience but cannot be bothered to recount it in full. But essentially you'll have an easier time if you have a higher income and if you are willing to buy a more affordable home further away from a major city.

@lifestylebypete Haha, it's probably not you, I've just found the way comments work on YT is often stuff disappears, and you start to ask what the point is if you get filtered out xD This is true the situation is fairly bleak if you have a lower income and/or you insist on buying within a city. To add some context the home I am buying is for 120k. Getting the mortgage isn't so bad because my income is 43k. I think with the banks they take into consideration the value of the property relative to your income. I am told that for a long time the value of a home was about 3-4 times salary, whereas now it's about 10x it, and this is probably why people are having a hard time. Keep in mind in 2008 there was the financial crash, and they started to heavily regulate mortgages since then, though I've heard the current Administration may be seeking to relax these soon. Even in my case with a 43k income. Say I wanted a home in my hometown, a 2 bed terraced would be about 260k let us say. Even if I put down 60k I would not be able to borrow enough from the banks to pay it. Another reason I don't want to borrow 200k anyways is because the costs are so high each month and I want to secure myself against defaulting as much as possible.
