  9.  @DonJulio510  I repeat, saying Latino/Latinos in an English conversation is not correct. You already know that but you keep saying "Latino", ok. Now about why you call yourselves Latin American/s. Latin American/s because the French called that part of what is now the "Americas" "Amerique Latine" that is "Latin America". So, it was called Latin America and you can say Latin American/s. Nothing wrong with it. We cannot go back 500 years and rewrite history. Colonization by Europeans happened. This is what people did hundreds, thousands of years ago, they explored and found themselves in other people's territory. That's the way it was. Even in Europe there were colonizations from one people to another and ethnic mixing and this is why we don't all look the same physically in each country. Now the Latin in you is in your language and in some of your culture which was brought to what is now Latin America by the French, Portuguese and Spaniards and what makes a person Latin as far as culture is not only the Latin-derived languages and culture but also the laws and religion. In Latin America you speak Latin-derived languages, French, Portuguese and Spanish, you received a Latin Culture by the French, Portuguese and Spaniards, the laws in each of the Latin American countries are based on Roman Laws and the main religion is Roman Catholicism. This is what make a people Latin, culturally Latin . I know that many of you don't like the European influence but it's not easy to erase the past. It's time to move forward.

  32.  Mongoose 1980  In English is Latin. In Italian, Portuguese and Spanish languages is Latino/Latina. The term "Latino" was adopted by a Mexican American Chicano man named Frank del Olmo years ago instead of "Latin American". Frank del Olmo chose "Latino" which is incorrect in English-in English as I said is Latin, Latin singular and Latins plural. He chose "Latino" because he wanted to unite all the Spanish-speaking people of the Americas under one label but he chose the wrong label. He should have pick up "Latin American" but he was ignorant in Roman history and knew nothing about the meaning of Latin or Latino and he messed up. Now these people think that "Latin/Latino" is their identity, that is their Skin Color!!!, that is their Blood!!! You nee an education as well from what I read in your post. No Latin/Latino is not a Roman from Latium. Not correct. All the Italians are Latins, all of them, all of Italy. Yes, the Latin people originate from Lazio (Latium) but eventually they were incorporated by the Romans who adopted their Latin language and as the Romans united all of the groups living in Italy they spread the Latin Language, Latin Culture and Roman Laws all over Italy. All the people in Italy became Romans and Latins. You need to know more and I recommend that you see this YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyAjG4hPckA&feature=youtu.be You may also want to see this website to get the full picture of what we're dealing here and I agree with you that the people from Latin America are twisting the meaning of Latin/Latino. It's not their "native" heritage. http://www.latino-news.press

  33.  Mongoose 1980  You are not correct. Latino or Latin in English refers to the Latin Language spoken by the Romans (Lingua Latina) and refers to the Romance Languages and refers to the Latin Culture of the Romans. The term Latino/Latin is a cultural term and cannot be used for personal identification like the Spanish-speaking people of the Americas do. The term Latin/Latino can only be used if in a conversation one is asked about his or her culture then they can say "I'm culturally Latin" or "My culture is Latin". The person who messed up in the United States was a Mexican Chicano man called Frank del Olmo. He wanted to unite all the Spanish-speaking people of the Americas under one label and instead of choosing "Latin Americans" he chose "Latino" which as I said is incorrect also in English. Now we have the Spanish-speaking people advertising their "Latin Food", their "Latin Dance", their "Latin Music" all lies and everything else they do Latin, Latino here and Latin and Latino there, everything they do they name it Latino without knowing what this term really mean and where they come from. They even think that Latin is their Skin Color or their DNA!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyAjG4hPckA&feature=youtu.be You can also go here and see the requirement to be considered Latins: ( It's all about Roman culture- Heritage): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_Union Honestly the people of Latin Americas also erroneously called "Hispanics" don't have a Latin culture. They are very destructive people. You may want to listen to Ms. Citlalli of mexica-movement.org as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj2wotjd3nw&t=6s
