Eric Jones I already answered some of your questions in another post. The problem with the Latin Americans is that they consider their Dark Skin Color as being Latin. They think that to be Latin you have to be dark or Mestizo looking and that Latin is their Ethnicity as the U.S. Census Bureau lists.
Latin (Latino is incorrect in English) it's only about speaking Latin Languages and possessing Roman Latin Culture. People from Latin America keep saying " I'm Latin or in Spanish "Soy Latino, Soy Latina". This is wrong because we don't use "LATIN" as a personal identification. We use Latin only on occasions when we have to identify our culture. The right way would be I'm White, I'm Mixed Race, "I"m Indigenous..."I'm Mexican", I'm Cuban", "I'm Honduran" or "I'm Latin American" but NOT Latin, not Latino, not Latina and certainly not Latinx. Now if any of you feels that he/she has a Latin culture (The Latin Culture is the culture spread by the Romans) then he/she can say "I'm culturally Latin" or in Spanish " Tengo cultura Latina" but only then and not like all of you do. In fact the Italians and the Latin Europeans seldom use the term Latin unless they have to identify their culture..
They say White or Italian, French, Romanian, Portuguese and Spanish or just European.
You have to blame Mexican Chicano Frank del Olmo who created this mess years ago. Frank del Olmo wanted to unite all the Spanish-speaking people of the Americas under one label but he chose the wrong "LATINO" label instead of choosing a Race for the Latin Americans or just say "Latin American/s".
Latino is wrong in English you don't say Latino you say LATIN and wrong because Latin only refers to Languages and culture and has nothing to do with Race or Ethnicity. You just don't use Latin/Latino/Latina as a personal identification. You have to use your RACE or your Country of origin or say Latin American. I hope that I clarified the issue.

Number one "Latinos" is grammatically incorrect in English. Correct way is Latins. Secondly, there are no Latins in Arizona but there are "Latin Americans". Big difference. Latinos is Spanish plural for "Latins" and these are the Latins: Italians, French, Romanians, Portuguese and Spaniards and have been Latins for more than 2000 years since the Romans, the Romans who spread the Latin language, Latin Culture and Christianity. Please learn what being Latin means. Latin is not a Race, not an Ethnicity, not a Skin Color and cannot be used for personal identification. The term Latin (Latino/Latina in Italian, Portuguese and Spanish languages) can only be used when one has to identify his or her culture and never in other instances. Not the way the Spanish-speaking people of the Americas do. They have to blame Mexican Chicano Frank del Olmo who wanted to unite all the Spanish-speaking people of the Americas under one label but he chose the wrong "Latino" label instead of "Latin American/s" or choose a Race like we all do. They have to use their Race to identify themselves or use the name of the countries they come from like Mexican, Honduran, Cuban... and leave the Latin alone because the Latin is the linguistic and cultural identity of the Romans the Italians and the Latin Europeans. Stop the lies.

@LordDirus007 You are uneducated and make no sense. The Romans were all Italian and Latin before they started colonialism and went out of Italy towards the rest of Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East. They already were Latin and what made them Latin was their Latin Language, Latin Culture and Roman Laws. The fact that as they colonized they assimilated some other non-Italian groups did not influence that they were already Latin. Moreover, the people that you mention above where all of the same race, all European except for Northern Africans. The fact is that you mention Race. Race is not a factor in determining who is a Latin person and who is not. In order to be Latin a person must speak a Latin language: Italian, French, Romanian, Portuguese and Spanish, must have the Roman Latin Culture, coming from a Country whose laws are based on Roman Laws and whose Religion is Roman Catholicism.
The problem with the people from Latin America is that they use the term Latin/Latino/Latina as either being their Race or their Skin Color or their DNA. This is not true. Latin (Latino is incorrect in English-correct way is Latin) only refers to first the Latin Language spoken by the Romans and two it refers to Romance Languages and three it refers to the Latin Culture of the Romans. Nothing to do with Skin Color or Race. Everything Latin be it the Latin people, the Latin Language and the Latin Culture all comes from Italy. The Romans spread it around Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East through colonialism and when centuries later the French, Portuguese and Spaniards came to the new world to colonize they spread the Latin Languages, Roman Culture, Roman Laws and Christian Catholicism throughout what is now known as the Americas. So to conclude it's not the race of a person which determines being Latin. Latin is a culture and cannot be used for personal identification like the Spanish-speaking people do. For personal identification people must use their Race, or Country of Origin like Mexican, Cuban...or say "Latin American/s" . This is what we all do. We don't identify using a culture. In fact even the Latin Europeans seldom use the term Latin. They use their Race which is White or almost always say Italian, French, Romanian, Portuguese and Spaniards or just say European. Latin is only used when in a discussion one has to identify his or her culture and only then. You from Latin America must do the same: Use your Race, individually, or say Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican or "Latin American/s. You use the terms Latin/Latino/Latina the wrong way. Blame Mexican Frank del Olmo because he created this identity problem for you.,
Please go through the website of the former LATIN UNION and see the requirements to be Latin and what it means to be a Latin:

@Anidem9 Yes, but if the term Mestizo is not to your liking and I may agree with it then it's up to each one of you from Latin America to choose an identity as long as Race is still a factor in identifying people. In the future Race may not be important and not easy to figure out due to the many racial mixing also for not dividing people. This is why when people originally from Latin America use the Latin/Latino/Latina label they are confusing the issue because we all identify ourselves by using either our Race or the countries we come from or we use our continent. As for Latin Europeans : Italians, French, Romanians, Portuguese and Spaniards they never use the Latin label as an identification because Latin is not their Race. Latin is only their linguistic and cultural heritage. However, if they happen to be in a conversation when they have to identify their culture then they say they're Latins but only then. In the Americas you use Latin/Latino/Latina to identify your Skin Color, to identify your DNA, to identify your Blood, to identify your Food, to identify your Music and this amounts to twisting Roman history. Latin is none of that. Latin/Latino/Latina is the language spoken by the Romans and their Latin Culture and cannot be changed no matter how much Mexican Frank del Olmo preferred "Latino" instead of "Latin Americans/s" in identifying the Spanish-speaking people of the Americas. He made a big mistake. You have to use a Race and for many of you can be different from the others depending on the Racial Mixing or you have to say Mexican, Cuba, Honduran, Puerto Rican... or you can say "Latin American/s". This is the way it is. Italians own the Latin, language and culture. It's our Roman Heritage. I leave you a link to the former LATIN UNION and you can see the requirement to be considered Latin and what Latin means. By the way it's LATIN in English and NOT Latino. Latino/Latina can only be said in Italian, Romanian, Portuguese and Spanish.

You are using the term Latino incorrectly. It's not your "native" heritage. It's the heritage of the Italians and of the Latin Europeans. Latino doesn't mean what you thing that it means. First of all Latino is incorrect in English-correct way is LATIN, secondly you are "Latin Americans". Blame Mexican Frank del Olmo. Frank del Olmo years ago wanted to unite all the Spanish-speaking people under one label and instead of choosing the correct way "Latin Americans" he chose "Latino" as an abbreviation for "Latin Americans" but he was wrong as you cannot abbreviate Latin American without giving it a different meaning. Latin/Latino only refers to Latin Languages (Romance Languages: Italian, French, Romanian, Portuguese and Spanish) and also refers to Roman Latin Culture and nothing else. No, Latin/Latino doesn't have anything to do with Skin Color, or Race, or DNA and there is no Latin food, there is no Latin Dance and there is no Latin Music. It's all an invention. Frank del Olmo fooled the U.S. Census Bureau into adopting the term Latino as an Ethnicity"!!! for the Spanish-speaking people. Wrong, wrong, wrong. If there are Ethnic Latins are the first Latins from Lazio, (Latium in Latin language) Italy. Stop the lies and learn what being a Latin really means and where this great language and culture come from. You can only use "Latin" in English or Latino/Latina in Italian, Romanian, Portuguese and Spanish languages only when you have to identify your culture and not the way the people from Latin America are doing. Totally wrong.

You are not Latinos. Latinos means Latins same word except that in Italian, Romanian, Portuguese and Spanish is Latino/Latina but not in English). In English is LATIN. You are not Latins. You are indigenous people who only originate from what the Latin European colonizers, French, Portuguese and Spaniards, called "LATIN" America. The reason why is was called "LATIN" America, not because of your Skin Color, not at all. It was called "LATIN" America because the languages of the colonizers, French, Portuguese and Spaniards, derive from the Latin language of the Romans. You have to use your race/races to identify yourselves like we all do and these are the races: White, Black, Asian and Red-Skin Indian. And there is no Latin Music, there is no Latin Food, there is no Latin Dance. It's all your invention. And there is no such a thing as Afro-Latino because the two don't mix. Afro refers to Race and Latino only refers to Latin Languages and Latin Culture. Wake up and learn:

I did not like this Bob Unanue introducing the Spanish-speaking people of the Americas as the "Latino Community". These Spanish-speaking people of the Americas must stop using the Roman term "Latin" and manipulating its meaning to identify themselves. They must understand that the French colonizers used the term "Latin" in naming "Latin" America for one reason: To identify their Roman heritage, their Latin derived French Language, their Roman Laws and their Roman Christian Catholicism and to distinguish themselves from the Northern USA which was English-speaking and Protestant. Latin means Roman heritage. However for these Spanish-speaking people Latin means having Dark/Mestizo Skin Color and this is unacceptable. Latin is not their indigenous heritage. Their indigenous heritage is Taino, Apache, Aztec, Lakota, Sioux... and Ayala Yolans. Latin, it's LATIN in correct English and not LATINO, is the linguistic and cultural Roman heritage of the Italians and the rest of the Latin Europeans: French, Romanians, Portuguese and Spaniards and nobody can change it including the panderer U.S. Census Bureau. We don't even want these people to call themselves Latin Americans. Both names are Italian. Latin with our Roman heritage and American as reference to the name of the Italian Navigator-Explorer Amerigo Vespucci.

Spanish speaking people of the Americas must stay away from anything with the "Latin" in it as much as possible because Latin is not their "native" heritage and Latin American doesn't translate into "Latino". Please understand that you're not Romans and not descendants of the Romans. You only speak languages " Spanish and Portuguese" which come from the Latin Language of the Romans and that's it. Sorry, there is no Latin Ethnicity in the Americas, there is no Latin DNA, there is no Latin Skin Color, there is no Latin Food, there is no Latin Music, there is no Latin song. It's all your invention. By the way I saw an advertisement of a Liquor with "Sabor Latino" and a cake with a big "Latino" name on it. All lies. You must use your RACE to identify yourselves like we all do or just say Mexican, Honduran, Cuban...or Latin American and that's it. No Latino, no Latina, no Latin, no Latinx and no Hispanic.
What these Spanish-speaking people are doing is called "Appropriation of a Culture" and "Cancel Culture".

@LshowKnows They use Latino which is grammatically incorrect in English-correct way is Latin singular and Latins plural, instead of "Latin Americans" and this in a mistake because Latino/Latin means one thing and Latin American means another. They also think that Latino/Latin refers to their Ethnicity, to their Indigenous Skin color. In fact among themselves they tell each other that the others are not Latins because they are not Dark Enough!!! They take being Latin as being Dark and Indigenous when this is not the case. And they use Latino or Latin for everything that they do. Their Music they call it "Latin Music", their food they call it "Latin Food" just about everything they call it Latino or Latin instead of "Latin American". If have followed my post it was a Mexican Chicano man called Frank del Olmo who years ago wanted to unite all the Spanish-speaking people of the Americas under one label but he chose the wrong "Latino" label which I already told you is grammatically incorrect in English and he chose it instead of "Latin American" which is the right way to call themselves as a group. They use the term Latino or Latin the wrong way and giving to it the wrong meaning and this is not acceptable. No, it doesn't exist in the United States. It's not a law. They just call themselves "Latinos" and as everybody panders to them they keep calling them Latinos. In the United States everybody whether TV Stations, newspapers, dictionaries, politicians all pander to Blacks and other minorities. Sorry being Latins means having inherited the linguistic and cultural identity of the Romans and Latin is the heritage of the Italians and of the Latin Europeans: French, Romanians, Portuguese and Spaniards who have been Latins for more than 2000 years since the Romans. The word Latino is incorrect in English language-correct way is Latin and Latin has nothing to do with race, ethnicity, DNA, Blood and gender. Latin refers ONLY to Romance Languages and Roman Latin Culture and the term Latin can only be used for this purposes and not as a personal identification. For personal identification this must be used: Race, Country of origin and in the case of the Spanish-speaking people of the Americas, Mexican, Cuban, Honduran...or just "Latin American/s" and not Latin, not Latino, not Latina, no Latinx and not Hispanics. The Race of most people of Latin America is Red-Skin Mestizo or as Ms. Citlalli of mexica-movement says "NICAN TLACA". Have fun with it.

@juanitacanon3120 The fact is that "Latin American" (or Latino Americano) cannot be shortened because Latino (Latin) means one thing and Latin American means another. I uderstand that Mexican Chicano Frank del Olmo chose Latino as an abbreviation for Latin American/s decades ago to find a common label uniting all the Spanish-speaking people of the Americas but he was wrong when he chose "Latino" instead of "Latin American" because Latino has a 2000 years Roman meaning and cannot be changed. Latino (Latin in English) refers to Roman Latin- Romance Languages and refers to Roman Latin Culture. You in Latin America use Latin/Latino/Latina as your Ethnicity or Skin Color when Latin doesn't have anything to do with Ethnicity and Skin Color. You also use Latin/Latino/Latina as a personal identifier when this is wrong. The term Latin can only be used to identify Language and Culture and not the way you do. For personal identification you have to say : "I'm Mexican, I'm Cuban, "I'm Puerto Rican"... or for general identification you say "I'm Latin American". Instead you use Latin/Latino/Latina for everything you do. You even call your food "Latin Food", your dance "Latin Dance" your music "Latin Music" and this is all wrong. It's Mexican Food, Mexican Dance, Mexican Music and "Latin American" but not Latin, not Latino, not Latina, not Hispanic and not Latinx. No, you cannot take Latin American and make it Latino and give it a new meaning. The Latin, everything Latin comes from Ital and it's about Roman Languages and Roman Culture.
