@Nogent the French totally identified with the Franks, until republicanism motivated celtism tactically against germanism, which wasnt the case in Ancient régime.

@basedkaiser5352 there are not of latin blood lmao, the citizenship is roman
1
@Nogent change of orthography =/= change of identity. Rome is a model, but only in the sense that the Franks thought the roman were of the same origin than they were. So, the ethnic identity is more celto-german than roman. The roman cult was a mistake.

@Nogent it didnt disappeared, it assimilated to create a maximal version + yes they were cleansed by the republicans and leftist, so that proves that they were a deep national political pilar.

@Nogent the french law is based on the custom of Paris, which is a feudal custom. Yes, french is latin, with german prononciation. The Frank ethnicity didnt disappeared magically, it fused with the Gaul nobles, which means theres is a continuity until the french revolution. Most of the nobles are more german than the random folk, especially in the southern population.

@Nogent the french law was first the salic law, - a record of multiple laws, including cities laws and gallo treatments - which you obviously deny existence. The civil code is litterally a national extension of the parisian custom, just check Wikipedia. The roman code is totally foreign and far away, unappliable. There is continuity since they mixed, some family litterally have germanic names "Baudouin, Thibaut..." The revolution broke the homogeneity of the country

@Nogent i was talking about ethnic homogeneity, since the Frank assimilated after their arrival. The Paris custom was a PROVINCIAL custom, it refers To the parlement of Paris, aka ile-de-France , but which also governed the northern half of France. The french laws were different because there were different nobles, so it wasnt contradicting the centralisation of the state.
