Regarding this chef: most celebrities are terrible people. There is a reason why the Bible bans the worship of idols and the veneration of celebrities is just a form of idol worship. It would be good to be less obsessed with what famous people do in their lives, they tend to be more depraved individuals than average Joe so we should stop acting like these people are role models, and instead take regular people with a good heart that we know, as role models instead. But this is not the part of the video I have any objections to.
The part which made me feel uncomfortable was the false accusation aimed at one of the greatest composers who ever lived, and probably the most all-round artistically gifted person of all time.
Richard Wagner was NOT a proto-Nazi. For starters, he was a left-wing radical, participated in a revolution causing him to be exiled from Saxony, and befriended Mikhail Bakunin. He had his last opera, Parsifal, conducted by the Jew Hermann Levi, and accepted Jewish converts to Christianity as no longer Jewish. His antisemitism was not racial in nature and this is completely opposite to the antisemitism of the national socialists, which had nothing to do with the Jewish religion but with their ethnicity. Converting to Christianity did not protect people from Jewish ethnicity from being sent to the gas chambers, not even if their families had been Christians for generations. People should be more careful when they make comparisons like that, because this one is highly inaccurate and also inappropriate. I do understand that given all the nonsense that circulates these days, and the pervasiveness of iconoclasm against our heroes, sometimes such mistakes are made in good faith, but they still should be called out.
