Some people who get infected never develop antibodies against the spike protein but have a strong cytotoxic T-cell response to the viral replicase, in effect making them resistant to any SARS-CoV-2-variant, as the replicase is the part of the virus which does not mutate, as mutations in that part would prevent the virus from copying itself.
