Long overdue. We cannot accept centralised control over information streams wether done by governments of private entities.

@ItCameFromTheSkyBeLo No. No one can be trusted with that much power.

@PerfectWorldRPG Only on the side of free speech.

@ItCameFromTheSkyBeLo Not sure if you ever got the memo but: criminal activity was NEVER protected by freedom of speech and neither is obscenity. There might be certain grey areas but human trafficking isn't one of them. Neither is the sale of stolen goods or drugs, attempts to engage in fraudulent transactions, falsely activating a fire alarm, or falsely reporting that a bomb will be set off somewhere.

@PerfectWorldRPG Companies should be free to engage in censorship of legal speech but that'd turn them into publishers who bear full liability for any content on their platform. Social media companies would never accept that so they'll just refrain from censorship while a newspaper or a recipe website might very well opt to moderate replies on their platform. It's as simple as that. By the way, freedom of speech is an inalienable human right derived from us posessing free will, self-awareness, and personal autonomy. Corporate entities are 100% man-made and if freedom of speech protection for human beings requires curtailing what corporate entities can do? Fine. I don't care. Companies aren't self-aware and they don't have inalienable rights since all their rights (including to exist, the LLC exists purely thanks to a man-made legal framework that arose during the Age of Mercantilism) are man-made and therefore can be amended or even scrapped.

@ItCameFromTheSkyBeLo What criminal activity is protected by free speech?

@ItCameFromTheSkyBeLo Criminal behaviour isn't protected by free speech and has nothing to do with this whole discussion.
