That sounds like the reverse of what happened to Dutch nurse Lucia de Berk - who was wrongfully convicted and spent years in prison for 'serial killing' people who died of natural causes while under her care. The director of the hospital (Paul Smit - the younger brother of my secondary school civics teacher - he even held a presentation about his experiences during one of his sister's classes where I was in attendance, long before they figured out no one was murdered to begin with) immediately called for a press conference when some of these deaths were under investigation and took credit for unmasking a serial murderer. I can still recall the smugness in his facial expression while recalling how he sat in front of all these journalists. She was suspected mainly due to having had a past as a heroin addicted prostitute before she got her act together and became an ICU nurse and suspected 'patterns' connecting these totally unrelated natural deaths only appeared after people already inclined to believe she was a murderess, started looking for them. She was cleared of any wrongdoing only after serving multiple years of a life sentence, partially because her boss was a contemptible judgemental narciccist.

The problem is that HR is an outgrowth of social psychology and roughly 60% of social psychology is pseudoscience, as in that around 60% of research papers in a large meta-analysis yielded non-reproducable results and therefore were proven to be systematically flawed. But to make things worse, recently a whole new wave of even more outlandish crack pot pseudoscience, not from social psychology but from the humanities (fields with names ending in 'studies') have entered HR departments. Literal mental cancer like DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion - they should have changed the last 2 words, at least then the acronym would make sense). Meanwhile, actual solid science, like intelligence research, is left unused, many jurisdictions even ban prospective employers from IQ testing applicants.
