In other words, it's a faux religion. One which offers only escapism and ultimately, nothing of real value to wider society. At least churches do a lot of charity work, run hospitals and schools, and promote family values. I spent years going to raves and even producing and releasing dozens and dozens of tracks, many of which are still sold on Beatport, and while I genuinely liked the music (trance in my case, not techno - but the exact same thing applies to any form of electronic music, be it techno, trance, house, hardstyle etc.) I grew to absolutely loathe the culture of hedonistic degeneracy and refusal to grow out of a sort of artificially prolongued adolescence which surrounds it. People in their mid to late 20s and early 30s should be getting married and starting families, not being off their tits on MDMA and listening to repetitive music.
