Palestine isn't a sovereign state, its inhabitants are largely made up of the descendents of labour migrants from other areas in the region, from Egypt to Iraq and from Syria to Saudi Arabia, to Mandatory Palestine, and the remainder are the descendents of the various waves of Arab immigration during the Muslim expansion in the Mediterranean and the Ottoman Empire, so their claim to the ancestral homelands of the Jews is spurious. There hasn't been a continuous Arab presence in modern-day Israel and the disputed territories for 3.000 years, which is how long the Jews have lived there, and the Jews are the only people to ever have had a sovereign state there. Arabs used to inhabit the area east of the Jordan river in Biblical times, the Nabateans (who were polytheists and later became Christian, their capital Petra is still a nominal bishopric in the Catholic Church albeit inactive), but only under the Rashidun Caliphate did Arabs settle in what is now Israel and the surrounding areas. Descendents of invaders have less of a claim to land than the descendents of the original population.

Judaism is morally superior to islam, and trying to conquer your ancestral homelands of 3.000 years is morally superior to maintaining the gains of 1.400 years of islamic military expansion into foreign territory. I'm all in favour of holding both sides to the same moral standards and IMHO the only logical conclusion is that we should side with Israel.
