Nonsense. The purity law is a tradition, it's not legally binding and any large liquor store in Germany will carry things like Belgian fruit beers, Hoegaarden (which has coriander and fermented orange peel in it) and Perła Miodowa, Polish honey beer. If the German government were to actually try and turn it into a law they'd not be able to because it would be contrary to European antitrust laws.

Heineken is NOT piss water. It's actually a high quality pilsener. Also, you are wrong about the so-called 'Purity Law' in Germany because it isn't actually a law and if it was it would have been struck down by European antitrust regulations. It's perfectly legal in Germany to sell beer which is not brewed in accordance with it. Every large supermarket chain sells Belgian fruit beers or for example Perła Miodowa, Polish honey beer. The Reinheitsgebot is non-binding and is adhered to voluntarily by German brewers.

No it's not. Brand pilsener is a recipe that is at the very most around 100 years old. The brewery is much older but for most of its history it made top fermented ales, pilsener and other bottom fermented beers didn't arise until the development of artificial refrigeration in the Industrial era.

The German purity law isn't legally binding and it's very easy to find beers that do not adhere to it. The local Trinkgut in Kaldenkirchen sells Belgian beers like Hoegaarden (which contains coriander and fermented orange peel) and fruit lambics but also Perła Miodowa (Polish beer with honey in it). German brewers stick to it out of their own volition but, as I said, it's non-binding. Also note that the Reinheitsgebot does not mention yeast but only water, malt and hops.

But the Reinheitsgebot isn't legally binding. You can find Belgian fruit beers and Polish honey beer in supermarkets all over Germany and the Reinheitsgebot, if actually made into law, would run afoul of European antitrust laws.

Belgian Stella Artois is a high quality pilsener. UK Stella Artois is just using the same branding but it's horse piss.
