  2. You're conflating Mein Kampf with the ideas discussed in it. Mein Kampf was widely sold and then mostly not read by those who bought it. It's not a very readable book. Compare it to 'Das Kapital' - Marx was wrong, and his ideas are actually inconsistent with human nature, but he was a better writer and unlike Mein Kampf, 'Das Kapital' wasn't just widely read but widely discussed and analysed and a massive influence on communist movements worldwide. Hitler ended up the chancellor of Germany because of his political savviness, powerful connections, intimidation by his SA goon squads, and his oratory skills, coupled with sentiments already present among the German population: revanchism over WWI and a fear of communism and widespread discontent with the dire economic conditions of the Depression era. Not because of his book. The movement which later became national socialism by and large had already formed at the time that Hitler took part in the Bierkellerputsch. Even the SA was basically nothing more than a partisan continuation of the various nationalist militias which fought against the communists in 1919.
