I don't think people were expecting D4 to be genre re-defining. It should have been, but it was obvious that it's not going to be.

I don't particularly care for the shallow critique/whining DIV gets nowadays, "bad patch" and "17 dmg" is just the tip of the iceberg. I think that corporate fuckery severely decreased the quality of the devs and then further screwed with development. Of course I wouldn't want to shift all the blame from mr. "but the chest needs to be loaded" either. From the start I've thought that for DIV to become what it was meant to be, the game has to innovate and be a 10/10. It clearly didn't do that and now I realized that this goal needed direction which it doesn't seem the development team could achieve. I think it's a fine game, maybe 8/10 or so. But the fact is that it's built like an MMO, so you have all these chore events so you can just mindlessly grind away while it's also not really multiplayer. No chat, no talk no nothing. The other "players" might as well be bots. Nobody even flinched at my bear puns either and that's just unbearable. It's the simple fact that you cannot make a good game when you have to follow a directive of "keep players ingame so they see the shop more" I still play it and make my rounds, but I'm hoping for a good PoE2 and Last Epoch
