@PentaHousen But that's speedrun, speedrunners are their own breed. I mean you could say that defeating a boss for the first time or defeating a timer is the same thing, but is it? For most players speedrunning isn't fun because you would have to had played the game over and over and over again. When you progress through dark souls you are playing it for the first time, no? And yes, it's tiresome to walk the walk of shame when it's not actually difficult/fun, it's just annoying and exactly why in Elden Ring almost all bosses have a stake of Marika in front of their arenas.

I critizise the soulsgames for their bullshit / flaws, but the difficulty isn't one of them. It would be horrible if it had any type of difficulty mode, you can already set that by choosing how you play it. Even if storytelling isn't very active, you could still roleplay and make an immersive character and therefore handicap yourself. And of course you can be that guy who finds every exploit/cheese.

@PentaHousen Difficulty means something hard to do, it's either something you don't fail, but takes a lot of effort or something you have to try over and over again. It's not doing the same if you are progressing towards victory. Anyway what I think is valid, is that if the game puts you into a failstate very easily and requires high precision from you, that means the developers have to create a sharp game as well. And especially DS1 fails quite a lot in this and in my experience the PC port was also crap. However there is great satisfaction in defeating an encounter/achievement that you found as difficult and had to work on it for several hours/days/weeks/months/years This is one reason why mythic raiding in WoW is (or was) a thing.

@PentaHousen Isn't that every game?
