  1.  @joanfrellburg4901  Trump has so many unattractive features that he ought to be unelectable but nevertheless he was President for 4 years .I have to admit it worries me that so many people voted for a man who had absolutely no experience of government and a spotty record as a business man. All political thinkers need to consider how U S Democracy can be improved to improve the quality of future candidates and prevent the election of another Trump.

Coleen the problem is that at the time of Trumps nomination his candidature was treated as a bit of a joke .I think in future your advice should be followed for every candidate and it would not do any harm to test their knowledge of the Constitution because Trump clearly knew nothing when he was inaugurated and probably still knows very little .

  8. Any party choosing to select a candidate like Trump must know he will be TROUBLE and they are only just appreciating the consequences .I know it does not stop the moaning but they may not use the megaphone quite as much .

  11. @Bo Bo BoThis is the first detail I have heard about the server used by Mrs Clinton though I was aware there was some controversy just before the Presidential election .May I suggest that the truth should have been brought out at the time but the decision was taken not to take the investigation further. The situation with Trump is very different in that he left office and was found in possession of stolen documents containing classified information .He was asked informally and formally to return said documents but was then found to have more. I gather Trump was also guilty of destruction of documents while in the White House and the plumbers had to be called out to remove the paper fromm the sewage system.

He proved to be unfit for office because of his personality , lack of experience and eccentric approach to governance but had many loyal supporters .Trump was not reelected in 2020 but would not accept the result despite losing a substantial number of legal challenges.

  21. Richard the problem is that a proportion of American voters need to be satisfied that Trump has stolen these documents because he has indoctrinated them. It is very sad that the Presidency was in the hands of a con man for 4 years and that he is still causing trouble .

  23.  @maxkronader5225  A person should be registered to vote on a formal basis and when he or she is eligible to vote a letter should be issued inviting them to a polling station .When the voter arrives at the polling station an official checks the invitation and hands over a voting slip. Once the slip is completed it is placed in a secure box or other receptacle that only an authorised official has access to before it is registered into a computer system.

  26.  @philwatling5109  One of the first things to do is to stop the media naming the shooter or showing photographs of him / her. I believe some people want to be famous and in their warped mind they think this can be achieved via mass murder.I agree the second amendment has to be looked at because the founding fathers did not know what killing machines would be available in the 21st century. There should be no special treatment for any U S citizen regardless of wealth or political power and that should be enshrined in a Constitutional amendment as you suggest. A further issue is the cost of legal representation which can lead to injustice for the poor in society .

  27.  @philwatling5109  I can only agree that a non partisan authority needs to strip Trump of all his priveleges as a former President .He clearly has no moral code and no loyalty to his Nation which led him into behaviour correctly described as treason. I am concerned that the Constitution does not contain any provision for dealing with a criminal like Trump and by the people who seem to ignore evidence and continue to give support to this man. What will it take to see Trump escorted into a Federal Prison ?

  43.  @ecurewitz  That is one scenario I have envisaged but perhaps it is simply that Trump can't cope without the trappings of power .He became so used to being President that he is now surrounding himself with items which remind him of the White House and the daily briefings etc ignoring the fact that by doing that he is breaching security protocols . It is extremely difficult to understand what goes on in Trumps head because he is ,to some extent, a man who has always been powerful and ruthless .Who could restrain him and did he ever accept that there was such a thing as Society?
