if tourists behave and follow the itinerary, nothing will come of it like the other 10 americans in his group. it might be harmless fun to disrespect another culture but a slap on the wrist encourages many others to do the same. thais and indonesians have fought back against these unruly western behavior in recent years.

@sunlightdavid has impoverishing north korea in the last 30 years made things better? venezuela? iran? they have nukes now. has invading the mid-east latin asean made us safer? we are permanently doling out hundreds of billions more for security today. has interference ever worked? animosity with china started when we picked the wrong horse in their civil war and today everybody suffers. our cost of living crisis isnt only from russia, it's china too.

@allolp actually thais and indonesians object to this kind of privileged behavior but they do need the tourism money and doesnt want to be another pariah. north korea got 80% of their country bombed and sanctioned into poverty - that horrific trauma gave rise to the kims. we have seen the same story all over the world. why should the rest of the world worry about our mess and cry over yet another one of our failed regime toppling over a sovereign? you tell me
