@ophioglossalesfernhead3686 it's unrealistic to expect quick changes in a democracy. in a one person one vote, the majority decides and societal changes are always slow. amεrica took 60 years to decriminalise and another 30 years to legalise marriage since the lgbt movement went mainstream. take indonesia, lgbt appeared on the radar just 20 years ago. authoritarian regimes, depending on who's in charge, do it much faster though - singapore didnt decriminalise until recently but this rule is rarely enforced because Lee Kuan Yew is a man of science while china took less than a decade of opening up to do the same. changes takes time and you werent around during amεrica's 90 years of struggle. had the government acted against the will of their people, then indonesian democracy would have fallen apart.
